NEC strengthens New Zealand operations with ANZ business integration

NEC has announced the next phase in its regional business alignment, integrating its New Zealand operations into the broader, integrated ANZ (Australia & New Zealand) leadership structure. The transition, effective 1 April 2025, is part of NEC’s wider global strategy to enhance collaboration, expand capabilities, and drive future growth across the region.

Under this new model, NEC New Zealand will continue to operate as a strong local presence, with teams remaining in place and reporting into NEC’s ANZ leadership structure, enabling New Zealand customers and partners to benefit from the broader expertise, resources, and capabilities of the full ANZ team. As part of this change, the New Zealand Managing Director role will be phased out, reflecting NEC’s commitment to a fully integrated regional approach.

Commitment to Growth & Innovation in New Zealand

NEC has a longstanding presence in New Zealand, operating here since 1999, delivering cutting-edge technology solutions across public safety, biometrics, transport, and networks. The company remains fully committed to the NZ market and sees strong potential for growth in the region, with ongoing investment in local capabilities, partnerships, and innovation.

As part of this commitment, NEC’s Innovation Lab, based in Wellington, continues to play a key role in driving research and development, fostering collaboration, and delivering next-generation technology solutions for customers across ANZ.

“Integrating NEC New Zealand into a regional structure strengthens our ability to serve customers with greater resources, expertise, and innovation,” said Jason Price, CEO & President of NEC Australia & New Zealand. “We are committed to maintaining our strong local presence while ensuring we deliver world-class solutions backed by the full strength of NEC’s global network.”

Seamless Transition for Customers & Partners

For customers and partners, it’s business as usual. NEC’s New Zealand team will continue to operate locally, with existing customer relationships, contacts, and service levels remaining unchanged.

This Means:

  • NEC New Zealand isn’t going anywhere – We remain fully committed to the NZ market; we see strong potential for growth in the region and will continue to invest in our local presence.
  • No change to your existing NEC contacts – You will continue working with the same NEC team members you do today.
  • Expanded capabilities & resources – This integrated regional structure allows us to leverage our broader expertise and solutions, bringing more global innovation to our local operations.
  • Clearer regional support structure – While there will no longer be a New Zealand Managing Director, any escalations will be managed seamlessly through NEC’s ANZ leadership team.

Why We’re Making This Change

This transition is part of NEC’s broader globalisation strategy and is designed to:

  • Enhance collaboration across ANZ, leveraging global best practices.
  • Bring more innovative solutions to the New Zealand market, expanding our capabilities.
  • Strengthen our ability to support customers locally, while benefiting from our broader regional expertise.

“This alignment allows us to create greater synergies across ANZ, improve efficiency, and unlock new opportunities for our customers and our staff,” Price added. “We are confident this will enhance our ability to deliver the best possible outcomes for businesses, governments and communities across New Zealand.”

The transition is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025, with a structured handover and change management process in place to ensure continuity.
