Celebrating our staff – Autumn 2022

Here at NEC New Zealand, we think it is important to recognise the valuable contribution made by each and every member of the team.

Every month, we encourage nominations from across the business to identify staff members that have gone above and beyond to deliver and demonstrate the core values of the business.

Our core values are:

  • Innovation
  • Customer-Centric
  • Courage
  • Collaboration
  • Excellence

Our monthly ICCCE Awards celebrate the hard work and dedication of our staff, and we are proud to recognise and reward those members of the team who have demonstrated our values.

March 2022 Winner – Kelvin Kewish

Our March ICCCE Award winner was Kelvin Kewish. Kelvin works in the Northern Field Services team and was nominated for the award by Sam Bell, GM Field & Network Services.

Kelvin was recognised for demonstrating the values of customer centricity and excellence and in his nomination, Sam had this to say about Kelvin:

Kicking off the pilot phase of the UCG project, the team received their first escalation in Hamilton. This particular request had some urgency around it as it was for a medical facility. With the team busy on other projects, Kelvin came in on his day off to attend to the urgent escalation, resolving the escalation with the skill and customer experience that we know and love.

Kelvin’s nomination was supported by feedback from the customer:

Medical escalations don’t happen often in the Colocation space – in fact, I don’t remember the last – so a medical escalation for Vocus/Spark in Hamilton in your first week appears to be a thorough application of Murphy’s law. I wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks to your team for the quick response to an unusual situation, especially given feet are barely under the desk.

Congratulations to Kelvin.

April 2022 Winner – Daniel Harrold

Our April ICCCE Award winner was Dan Harrold, Dan works as a Cloud Engineer at NEC New Zealand and has been with the company for just under seven years. He was nominated for the award by Graeme Prentice, Solution Consultant.

Dan was nominated for the award after demonstrating the values of customer-centricity, collaboration, and excellence. This is what Graeme had to say about Dan in his nomination:

Dan is consistently positive in his outlook even when under pressure such as when onboarding new employees in short time frames.

“Dan is extremely customer-centric supporting those of us who are IT customers, from supplying that missing cable to setting up new staff in conjunction with HR.

“Dan always takes responsibility and sees the job through. From my position in the office, I can see that he shares his information with all the Wellington-based staff along with everyone from around the country.

“All this is done with calm efficiency and a great sense of humour. Dan applies his extensive knowledge of NEC’s processes and corporate requirements and simply gets things done. April was a particular challenge for onboarding new staff across NEC NZ and Dan just got things done.

Congratulations Dan.

Mel Barber, Managing Director NEC New Zealand said, “I’m always proud, but never surprised at the high calibre of people we have at NEC. It’s always difficult to decide on a winner.

A huge congratulations to Kelvin and Dan along with all those who were nominated over the past couple of months.
