Built-in PC from NEC Display Solutions - For Maximum Flexibility in Digital Signage Applications

NEC Display Solutions provides an option slot for their current generation of LCD public displays. This is an innovative slot system for the easy fitting of add-on units such as a CAT5 receiver, HDSDI card, DVI daisy-chain connector or the NEC built-in PC.
NEC Public displays utilising the NEC built-in PC, are ideally suited for use at airports and railway stations, in back-to-back installations and in showrooms or small presentation areas.
With the built-in PC, NEC public displays can be installed without cables and free from source stations.
The integral, fully independent computer unit complete with hard disk is available in both standard and high-end versions and comes with the Windows XP Embedded operating system. As they are built completely into the side of the display, NEC built-in PCs save a great deal of space and can also be installed easily by just one person without removing the public display from its bracket. This installation technique means that there is no need for additional cables or a second power supply.

The built-in PC only consumes around a tenth of the energy compared with a conventional PC system. This amounts to 19 Watt (basic) and 36 Watt (high-end version) at full load.
High-resolution videos can be processed thanks to the internal Intel® graphics solution with integral 3D function. Furthermore, the high-end version of the NEC built-in PC enables full HD content to be played back without any problems.
The NEC built-in PC provides many connection options. It has three USB 2.0 ports, for the convenient connection of a mouse, keyboard and an additional data medium such as a USB stick or portable hard disk. The integral Ethernet interface allows unlimited access to the Internet or intranet. This enables digital signage content to be effortlessly updated using an existing LAN or WLAN network.

A second LCD monitor can easily be connected to the NEC built-in PC using the DVI-I output. This is particularly practical and cost-effective with back-to-back installations in public areas or in large showrooms. Along with the DVI-I output, the NEC built-in PC also provides a slot for express cards. This complies with the 54 mm standard, but also allows 34 mm express cards to be used. Users therefore have access to UMTS, WLAN and even DVB-T functionality. The advantage of the new generation of PC cards compared with the earlier PCMCIA standard lies in their reduced size and higher data rate.
